چکیده

Nuclear magnetic resonance has emerged as a vital technique for investigating strongly correlated electron systems, and is particularly important for studying superconductivity. In this paper the basic features of NMR as a technique for probing the superconducting state are reviewed. Topics include include spin relaxation processes, studies of vortex lattices, and phenomena associated with unconventional pairing symmetries. Recent experimental work is reviewed, with a particular emphasis on the heavy fermion superconductors. PACS numbers: 71.27.+a, 74.25.Ha, 74.25.Nf,74.25.Nf, 76.60.-k Submitted to: Rep. Prog. Phys.

Hyperfine Interactions in the Heavy Fermion CeMIn5 Systems

The CeMIn5 heavy fermion compounds have attracted enormous interest since their discovery six years ago. These materials exhibit a rich spectrum of unusual correlated electron behavior, and may be an ideal model for the high temperature superconductors. As many of these systems are either antiferromagnets, or lie close to an antiferromagnetic phase boundary, it is crucial to understand the beha...

Tandem pairing in heavy-fermion superconductors.

We consider the internal structure of a d-wave heavy-fermion superconducting condensate, showing that it necessarily contains two components condensed in tandem: pairs of quasiparticles on neighboring sites and composite pairs consisting of two electrons bound to a single local moment. These two components draw upon the antiferromagnetic and Kondo interactions to cooperatively enhance the super...

Universal relation between magnetic resonance and superconducting gap in unconventional superconductors

Unconventional superconductors such as the high-transition temperature (Tc) cuprates, heavy-fermion systems and iron arsenide-based compounds exhibit antiferromagnetic fluctuations that are dominated by a resonance, a collective spinone excitation mode in the superconducting state. Here we demonstrate the existence of a universal linear relation, Er ∝ 2Δ , between the magnetic resonance energy ...

Diagnosis of quantum criticality by nuclear spin-echo decay method

The Gaussian spin–spin relaxation time T2G, as determined by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spin-echo decay measurements, is found to be useful for diagnosis of quantum critical behaviour in heavy-fermion systems. Combining T2G with the spin–lattice relaxation time T1, the exponent f of the quantity T1T=T 2 2G T is predicted to be sensitive to the type of quantum criticality in the system con...

Three-dimensional Majorana fermions in chiral superconductors

Using a systematic symmetry and topology analysis, we establish that three-dimensional chiral superconductors with strong spin-orbit coupling and odd-parity pairing generically host low-energy nodal quasiparticles that are spin-nondegenerate and realize Majorana fermions in three dimensions. By examining all types of chiral Cooper pairs with total angular momentum J formed by Bloch electrons wi...
